Some open day tips for brides and grooms

Wedding open days can be invaluable sources of inspiration for anyone planning their special day – but it can sometimes be difficult to strike the right balance between being swept up in the emotion of planning your wedding and absorbing the practical information that will help you to organise your big day.

With that in mind, it’s helpful if you arrive at your open days with an idea of how many people you would like to invite, the budget you have available and the food that you would like served at your wedding breakfast.

It also helps to have a notepad and pen handy, so that you can jot down any options that the hotel’s wedding planners discuss with you, as well as a smartphone or camera, so that you can take a photo of anything of interest or that you would like to re-create on your wedding day, such as floral decorations or wedding cake designs.

It’s also advisable to take a poly-pocket or folder with you, so that you can store any menu plans, brochures, business cards and photographs that you might come away with while you’re talking to recommended suppliers exhibiting at your open day.

Most important of all, remember to relax and enjoy yourself. – Sample some canapés, champagne and wedding cake, and enjoy a quiet moment in some of the hotel’s most picturesque spots, so you can both get a feel of whether the venue is truly right for your wedding day.
